Introduction: Club America

Club America, also known as "Las Aguilas del America" (The Eagles) due to its mascot being an eagle, was founded in 1916. It is one of the most successful football teams in Mexico. It competes in the Mexican top soccer league called "La Liga MX" and has won its championship 11 times throughout the club's history. The club became well known during the 80's decade were the club won 8 titles in total, winning the league title 5 times, including three consecutive titles, Mexican Super Cup twice, and the CONCACAF Champions Cup once. It was during the 80's that America made its long term rival, Las Chivas del Guadalajara, due to the amount and way the games were played. America has also picked up a rivalry during the recent years with the clubs Pumas and Cruz Azul, both being from Mexico City, too.
